Antiochus IV Epiphanes 175-164 BC Antiochus, on hearing of his brother Seleucus' murder, leaves Athens and sails for Pergamon. Then with
Pergamese help he seizes power in Syria. The claim of Demetrius, the eldest son of Seleucus and still a hostage in Rome, is
quietly forgotten.
In 173 an anti Seleucid faction comes to power in Egypt which is determined to regain Coele Syria. The invasion (170/169) is
defeated and Antiochus invades Egypt capturing Pelusium and Ptolemy Philometor the King. Alexandria proclaims Ptolemy
Euergetes Philometor's brother as King and prepares to fight on. Antiochus does a deal with Ptolemy Philometor and leaves
Egypt divided with Philometor ruling from Memphis. The two Ptolemy brothers however agree to rule jointly so Antiochus
again invades only to be blocked by Roman ambassadors just as Antiochus is approaching Alexandria(168). Antiochus pulls
out of Egypt. In Jerusalem Antiochus intervenes rather brutally in the faction fighting that has troubled the client Jewish state.
This helped provoke the rebellion of the Maccabees and gains Antiochus very bad press - to the writer of Daniel becomes
virtually the anti-christ. In 165 he headed East but died of illness the following year.

Antiochus IV Epiphanes is the most comprehensive picture of the Antichrist we have in ancient history.He trayd to force the Jewish people to leave Judaism and adopt Hellenism ,his culture and religion . He open in some of the rom. in the temple for prostitution ,this happened in 169 BC. When the Jews revolt agenst this disgrace against their culture nearly 80000 Jews was killed or sold as slaves. Antiochus IV gave him self the name Thoes Epifanes which manes( the reveal, God) the Greek word Epipanes has the number code 666 in his name, the number for Antichrist.He was from Syria it doesn't mean that Antichrist will come from Syria, there is some Bible searchers who believes that.There is many ruthless rulers whit a Antichrist pattern; That does not mean that he will come from his country As i see it he will come from the rosen Roman Empire in the end thimes.Antiochus IV Epiphanes is mention in Daniel 8.9-12 ,23 and 11.21-35 .A part of the description of him goes over to describe Antichrist in the end time..Antiochus IV and the Antichrist has the same characteristic and act at the same way to the Jews and in the tempel in Jerusalem

Daniel 8:9 And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant [land].
Daniel 8:10 And it waxed great, [even] to the host of heaven; and it cast down [some] of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them.
Daniel 8:11 Yea, he magnified [himself] even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily [sacrifice] was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.Daniel 8:12 And an host was given [him] against the daily [sacrifice] by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practiced, and prospered.
Daniel 8:13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain [saint] which spake, How long [shall be] the vision [concerning] the daily [sacrifice], and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?
Daniel 8:14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

Daniel 8:15 And it came to pass, when I, [even] I Daniel, had seen the vision, and sought for the meaning, then, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man.
Daniel 8:16 And I heard a man's voice between [the banks of] Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this [man] to understand the vision.
Daniel 8:17 So he came near where I stood: and when he came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end [shall be] the vision.

Daniel 8:18 Now as he was speaking with me, I was in a deep sleep on my face toward the ground: but he touched me, and set me upright.
Daniel 8:19 And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end [shall be].
Daniel 8:20 The ram which thou sawest having [two] horns [are] the kings of Media and Persia.
Daniel 8:21 And the rough goat [is] the king of Grecia: and the great horn that [is] between his eyes [is] the first king.

Daniel 8:22 Now that being broken, whereas four stood up for it, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not in his power.
Daniel 8:23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.
Daniel 8:24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practice, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.

Daniel 8:25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify [himself] in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.
Daniel 8:26 And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told [is] true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it [shall be] for many days.
Daniel 8:27 And I Daniel fainted, and was sick [certain] days; afterward I rose up, and did the king's business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood .
